Raise the Roof consists of around 60 local young people aged from 7 years and up. Since their formation in 2012, singing and performing throughout a period of just over 3 years, they raised £75,000 and built a school in Uganda in 2016 which is currently attended by approximately 500 children.
The choir made their debut appearance in the Braid Arts Centre, Ballymena in January 2013. Since then they have given numerous performances in venues such as Stormont, the Dalriada festival, and St Anne’s cathedral, Belfast.
The choir is diverse and members come from all sectors of the community. Together we celebrate the creativity of our local children.
As we commence again in September 2018 our new target is to build a primary school and health clinic in the Lilongwe district of Malawi. Currently in this region there are only 11 primary schools but over 16,000 children! We believe we can make a huge difference to this entire community as we partner with the charity E3 to bring total transformation with education and proper health facilities.
Watch out for us as we travel to our events in our wonderful big yellow Raise the Roof bus!
Raise the Roof have a God given vision to bring positive transformation to vulnerable children in Africa through the provision of quality education and health care. We are passionate about community, joy and singing. We believe that young people have the power to change the world.
